Rep. the USA at Model United Nations, 2025
Frankfurt am Main, March 2025

Representing the USA in the Security Council at the annual Model United Nations in Frankfurt am Main was an exciting experience, especially as a shared journey with friends we all made along the way! The event was split in professional sessions, social events and breaks for lunch.

After the two World Wars, in June 1945, Chapter V of the United Nations Charter established the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) as the primary and permanent authority of the United Nations (UN) system charged with the maintenance of international peace and security.
This years UNSC was initially set up to focus on two main issues:
1. Sanctions and their Impact on Global Security
Stances of the official Trump Administration on sanctions, lets say, vary for bit. Me and my co-delegate had plenty of freedom when it came to define our own foreign policy and therefore allied with Russia and somewhat attempted to hold ties with our traditional western allies.
2. Regional and International Cooperation on Illicit Trade in South America
Regular, severe and mass-scale violations of human rights are a real-word issue of great urgence to tackle in South America. This accounts for Mexiko, their drug cartells and human trafficking in particular.
The USA, however, mainly cared about involved criminals possible entering the United States and made sure no American troops are being send oversees. Providing a shared union of intelligence for enhanced cooperations was a comprimise that allowed the UNSC to pass the dolphin proposal.
This year’s crisis was about a terrorist organization trying to plunge the world into chaos under the guise of climate protection. Our suspicions of a Russian conspiracy were quickly dispelled, crisis committees convened and new resolution drafts written.
Overall great work by the organizers of MainMUN 2025!
During the four days, I was invited to a jewish sabbath for the first time, had fun evenings at other delegates places and got in contact with similar-minded people that I might still be texting and visiting a long time after. No regrets at all about my commitment to MUN!
